Welcome to Chasing Planner Peace's 'Spotlight on a Planner' series. We aim to show the world how planning has changed lives and showcase the different methods people use when chasing planner peace. This month, June 2020, we chat to Damian Hunt (also known as The Planner Guy) and find out how a kiwi approaches planning as a hobby.

Tell us a bit about yourself

My name is Damian, I’m 33, and I’m a planner guy from New Zealand. In case you don’t know where that is, we are a small country in the Pacific of only 5 million people. I was born and raised here. I can honestly say I feel blessed to have been brought up here. New Zealand is a very friendly, community-driven place.

How did you get into planning?

I have always loved stationery and crafting, and planning is really an extension of that. It’s a way I can disconnect from what’s going on around me to have some self-reflection time. My planner and art journal is something I always have on me.

What products are you currently loving?

Right now, I’m really loving Cloth and Paper - that minimal aesthetic is just so pleasing. I have also found it easy to incorporate other styles into minimal planning.

One of my all-time favourite shops is Stellaire by Jordan Clark. She has the most stunning classic art style, that just keeps me going back for more. She also has excellent tips and tricks on her YouTube channel for journaling and all other arts and crafts.

What are your best tips for achieving planner peace?

Is planner peace real? I have been planning for years now, even before planning was considered a hobby and my style has always evolved. I can say after trying almost every size planner from Erin Condren to traveller's notebooks and virtually every size of ring planner, I have found I always go back to personal and pocket rings. I also have my art journal which is an Archer and Olive A5.
